Wife and I are are burned out from the first month with baby. Sleep when the baby sleeps isn’t working at all for us as we have difficulty sleeping during the day. We just
Started looking for a live-home nanny and realized the job market is $7k-$10k monthly which is around 1/2 of our household income.

If you have experience, could you comment on if it’s worth it ? Do live in nannies only watch the baby and do nothing else ? Anxious about having a stranger live with us and care for baby but seems like a need for us at least for a year. Thanks for inputs !

Save your money. Everyone goes through the shit in the first 3 months. You’re 1 month in? That’s bush league, rookie numbers.

Suck it up for the first 3 months, then sleep train your kid. After that things start to return to normal as far as sleep goes.

Looks like you have the perfect baby congrats

Mine is 18 month, sleep trained multiple times, had to do it in each sleep regression and still wake up 2 he every night now

We hired a nanny since 3 month and can't live without the nanny because life is just in hard mode everyday

Baby is extremely fussy especially in the mental leap period.

I mean, my wife is an ICU nurse so I’m like a single dad 80% of the time. I’m also a moron. If I can do it, anyone can. Our definition of “hard mode” must be different.

Try "this works" sleep spray and a sleeping mask. The first six months are tough. Would family helping out be an option at all?

Get a nanny temporarily ( live in or visit for 8 hours) and then send the baby to daycare at 6 months. We ran into similar issue and did this , worked well. Our baby is doing well overall at daycare- overcame stranger anxiety , eats by himself , started talking etc..

Wife ended parental leave at 5 months with a two week gap between that and daycare. Life is on hard mode with two working parents and no help. I complained about cost of daycare for months but now I think it's cheap for what we get!

It's costly in west coast but I think it's good for the kid. They get to meet other kids of their age. When my son was home with nanny, all he would do was stare at her and listen to those 2 or 3 rhymes
