Contemplating move to San Diego from Bay Area. If current TC in Bay Area is 200k, how much should the equivalent TC in San Diego be ?
Thanks. But rent is not very different I believe. 1bhk in San Jose is 2500 whereas 2000 in SD...so why TC should be 100k lower in SD?
1 BHK is closer to 1600 unless you’re looking in downtown, which most people don’t live there
I own a home in Bay Area. The plan is to rent it out , move to SD for a couple of years and then go from there.
Bay Area is generally 50-80% higher salary while COL is 20-50%.. SD is expensive because it attracts a lot of retirees and military who get a housing stipend..
It's not like taxes/insurance/gas will be cheaper. It is the same state, it isn't Texas. So I would say 200k in SF is like 180k in San Diego.
Thanks
well over 300k, housing in even the most expensive areas of la jolla/del mar are so much cheaper. Tbh, I'd stay in the bay unless you have a family/kids
Are you saying 200k in Bay Area is >300k in San Diego ? Or is it the other way ? My question was how much 200k in Bay Area is equivalent to in San Diego?
I see you aren’t familiar with the median price of La Jolla SFHs. Not that one SWE salary is enough for one of those...
