Contemplating move to San Diego from Bay Area. If current TC in Bay Area is 200k, how much should the equivalent TC in San Diego be ?
Thanks
160K I think. I did the opposite move and went from SD to bay area. TC jumped from 150 to 195K
That being said. Do not settle for less than 180K. San Diego is hella expensive too. If its a new role, negotiate hard. GL. It's 500$ less for renting apartments than the bay. Not much less. Everything is more or less the same.
$500 less per month on rent, that is all the difference
About 10% less.
moving to Qualcomm
Lol I hope not. But he is at WD which is equally bad.
San Diego is not much cheaper, I agree that it's basically 500$ cheaper rent, so Ideally look for the same TC to have at least small increase..
BS. Lived in SD 20 years. Rents are way cheaper than the bay area. I have rentals in SD, $1500 for 1 br.
It really depends on what you consider a good place to live/commute. Apartments in UTC(where half of employers are) start from 2.2 to 2.5k for a "liveable" place, which still would be 20-30 years old with slightly remodeled repairs done.
Try to keep it same. That should be a decent bump in TC considering the area. In my opinion SD has way better lifestyle than Bay Area
Nerdwallet says 200K in SF should be about 143K in SD. https://www.nerdwallet.com/cost-of-living-calculator/compare/san-francisco-ca-vs-san-diego-ca I live in SD, TC 160K and have a great standard of living imo. I could buy a house here but have no chance unless I made a ton more in the bay area. Lived in Alameda 3 years ago, paid 2275 for a 2 bedroom apartment and commuted to SF for 1+ hours on average. Now I have a 20 min commute, live in a luxury complex in La Jolla and pay < 2000/month with about a 10 min drive to the best beach in SD. Best move of my life. Highly recommend :D
Can you please post a link to a luxury apartment complex in La Jolla for 2k/month. I would never believe in this
All luxury apartments at La Jolla cost more than 2500 for 2b, I just moved to Scripps ranch as LJIG increased the 1b apartment prices to $2000 and more
