Hi folks,

I had several rounds with Tencent and now got the position as senior SW video engineer. I want to negotiate my offer and I don’t know how to communicate that effectively. My Intel package is this grade 7, 145k base pay, PhD with 1 year experience. Bonuses: Quarterly 3k, annual 8k.

    I did ask for a higher one ☝🏻 it was $250K but they said for T9 it’s a good thing and I have 1 YOE. Only I have a PhD and in a specific domain that they are interested they gave me this package. I don’t know what else to do. I got rejected in the last round in Apple and Facebook 😞so anyways I hav to transfer my H1B so took this offer.

      @all: You folks are right. I’m working 996 for the past 1 month. It’s quite gruesome and I’m already feeling the brunt. I was surprised to see that they don’t have much code documentation and you are expected to produce results in a short time. I mostly worked on Python and R in grad school and here Im dealing with hardcore C. Quite a rough ride so far and manager doesn’t seem to like me yet. I’m jus feeling down 😞. I don’t want to quit. I lost my wlb and during weekends I’m working on some code and reading papers. I don’t have my personal life anymore. I live alone and probably I think die alone 🤧😵‍💫😵

    Still waiting on the paperwork and finishing up interviews with other companies. Not sure how the H1B transfer process gonna take. Any rough estimate how many weeks does it take to do this? Any idea 💡 plz

    Well in your case I suggest you take it. It’s still a good name. If it does turn out to be a killer suck it up for a year and then see if you can interview again.
