Signed offer at Wayfair...they want me to sign a new offer letter with potentially different vesting schedule?

I joined Wayfair not that long ago. I really like my team so far.

I signed an offer when I joined which seems to imply the vesting schedule is quarterly.

The recruiter just reached out to me to say they made a mistake on my offer. She says it should say yearly.

They sent me a new offer letter to sign. The new offer letter is the exact same, but the vesting schedule is yearly instead of quarterly.

What should I do?

Edit to add: the recruiter sent me a message this morning saying Wayfair would honor the original letter if that was what I chose to stick to!

Wow. Imagine if you said you made a mistake and thought your offer said 20k more sign on.

Tell them you love the role so far and understand they made a mistake but that a quarterly vesting schedule was a big factor when evaluating and accepting the offer. Can they increase your base or RSUs to make up the gap?

    Yearly vesting schedule?

You sure it's not a cliff for year 1 followed by quarterly vesting afterwards?

The original document makes it sound as though stock vests quarterly immediately, no?

The fact they removed that language from the new document is the problem. Ask them to clarify since the new version is ambiguous about vests after year 1.

Wayfair will provide quarterly vesting starting day one if you negotiate for it

It sounds like you received quarterly vesting starting day one

I wouldn’t sign the new offer letter

Update: Wayfair just let me know they will honor the original agreement. I didn't have to twist anybody's arm, they just reached out and said if I want to stick to what I signed, they can do that. Yay!

Don't sign that new letter. The recruiter fucked up and gave you the letter that people get when they ask for vesting to begin immediately. You don't have to explain yourself. Make sure your vesting schedule in Fidelity reflects the letter you already signed. If your manager gets involved, they should agree that this is bullshit, and if they don't, quit!
