I am currently interviewing at Meta, and I also have a baby due in July. One reason that I'm interested in leaving Amazon is that they do not give maternity benefits to moms using adoption and surrogacy. I realize how important corporate values are to me in the tangible way that they are communicated in benefits. It's disappointing to me that Amazon believes I should return to work two and a half months earlier because my infertility prevents me from carrying my baby. I find that unacceptable.
That said, I do worry if Meta will judge me for joining, attending the employee onboarding, and then going on maternity leave for 4 months before officially joining a team. I do want to stay at Meta long-term after my baby is here, but does starting in this way create a problem with my reputation?
My advice to all of the women out there who are considering being moms - corporate values matter!#workingparent #parenting #amazon #meta #adoption #surrogacy
