Looking to buy my first car. Confused between getting a Honda Civic (good resale value, minimum maintanence) or a second hand luxury car like a Mercedes C 300 or BMW ~300/400 series, whatever is available on Car gurus. I don't want to spend too much on car maintenance and replacing parts after a few years. Like Warren Buffet says owning a car is a liability. TC: 160k. Faang employee
Buy a used toyota

Get a used Honda. A car that is couple of years old, usually has under 20000 miles on it, it works just as good as the new car but its price has fallen significantly! Itโs a steal :)
If you are interested in a used luxury car look at a 15/16 Hyundai Genesis. Great feature set, excellent reliability, fantastic value.
Worst gas mileage
No. I disagree. Car is a necessity rather than a liability. Buy a used japanese car or suv. Dont lease it.
160TC is too low for a luxury car. Just buy a Prius and work towards a higher TC ๐
Used prius
No German, repairs will be costly.
When you buy a used luxury car, you are effectively buying a higher repair, maintenance and insurance bill. I had a CPO 2008 Porsche 911 GT3. Broke a side mirror and paid $2k in parts and service.
Don't get a used German car unless you want expensive repair bills.
Even if they are Certified Pre Owned? A lot of F5ers in Seattle have Pre Owned and haven't seen them complaining about issues.
CPO is perhaps a bit better, but if OP is used to Honda/Toyota reliability there may be a bit of a shock.
