I'm trying to go into hardware but companies like apple and NVIDIA seem unattainable to me. What are some companies that would be good to apply? I have no yoe in hardware and I'm currently pursuing a masters part time in integrated circuits.
Synopsys Xilinx Texas instruments Cadence AMD Intel Qualcomm Broadcom NXP Analog devices TSM Murata Cirrus logic Marvell Edit after replies Samsung ARM National instruments Micron Mediatek
I feel like these companies combined might encompass a majority of hardware jobs that exist
I can assure you that NXP's interview process is not a cakewalk. For someone with no work ex in hardware, they'll really test you on your academic projects and fundamentals.
TI ADI are good places to learn with less yoe
TI = training institute
Yo infineon. Can I DM you?
What kind of hardware? Are you only looking for places that develop their own silicon?
I was thinking something like ASIC/FPGA chip design.
If you are looking for fpga, raytheon may he a good starting point. Low TC and there will be some grunt work.
If you have no experience in the field maybe you'll need to start with smaller fish like PCBA'S manufacturers
Apply to National Instruments. They do a lot of great Engineering work and love to bring in interns and new college grads.
Listen to AMD. This is a great advice and NI is a great place to start. Also check out PMC Sierra (still alive?)
As much as I have cursed at NI products over the years I would have to agree. They and Keysight are basically the engineering measurement experts.
Start with Intel
A lot of people have been recommending Intel, but with the way it's been doing recently I assumed I should stay. How many years should I stay there if hired?
*stay away
Take a look at our company: Black Sesame Technologies
I suggest starting with semiconductor companies. Lots of learning opportunities from what i have seen amongst my peers.
Facebook!
Is FB mass producing any hardware? I thought they were just in R&D with the glasses
They’re already mass producing several products at Facebook Reality Labs like portal and quest.

My manager is white but his manager is Indian
The hardware company with the lowest bar is Intel.
+1 no need to prepare for interview, just show up
This is not true at all. Maybe they are compensating lower than the others and have a lot of dead weight higher up the ladder, but they sure provide a great platform to young engineers and most good teams have an equally hard interview process as well.
