Hey all, don't have much experience with housing prices around the Bay other than that they're crazy expensive, but wondering if anyone can personally recommend the best bang for buck areas for a 1BR or 2BR apartment if I were to work at FB in Menlo Park. I know this is subjective but want to take into consideration some happy average of rent price, commute, safety, etc.. Trying to see if there are any decent spots in the $2.5-3k range for 1BR and maybe 3.5k at most for 2BR, but not sure how realistic. Specific areas, and details on commute time/rent/overall living conditions would be great! Married, no kids, one car. Wife would be look for work outside of tech. Safety/general living conditions are fine, don't need anything super fancy. Also, curious to know what the transportation is like (commute to FB via public, any good benefits, etc.) if we opt to stick with one car.
Very realistic , they just need to be shitty old not new and luxury
Look in Redwood City or Belmont. That’s realistic just won’t be great quality.
Rent out a house in East Palo Alto. It’s not as bad as most think specially given the prices are a steal compared to PA and MP neighborhood.
4K 2 beds Redwood City, plenty options, quick commute.
Thanks, is that including parking for one car, and if not, how much will that run me? I hear it's a few hundred bucks. Assuming at that distance, there's company buses of some sort?
Yes, shuttles are awesome, there are several stops at Redwood City. For parking, it depends, there are some appts with free parking, others may charge 100-150. FB should give you one month free appts, ask for Redwood City and explore. You can find good deals close to mpk campus as well. Hamilton777, elan and Anton mpk. They typically give 1 month free, check web sites.
With that 500k tc you should be able to not worry about these petty things.
