Need to commute from Southbay to SOMA and want to be able to work on the train. Any recommendations for which carrier works best along that route (have the iPhone 8)? Verizon store offered me the standalone router as a $20/month add on. Do people use those?
I used both Verizon and Sprint as that's what my company carried. Verizon was better. You will get bad reception near South SF with the tunnels etc
I’ve tried both AT&T and Verizon multiple times over the past few years on Caltrain. AT&T beats Verizon hands down for Caltrain. I use Verizon for my personal cell plan for the coverage, but I have a prepaid AT&T hotspot plan because it is that much better.
I use AT&T hotspots. Does not work very well on bullet trains (too fast). But otherwise works when not underground or under an overpass.
Thanks all! Guess it’s a straight shot between ATT and Verizon.

Amazon L5 to Google L4?
T-Mobile unlimited. Done. Good enough.
T-Mobile gets awful reception. I have it and wish I didn’t. I have a work phone on Verizon and I always use that to hot spot on the train, never my personal phone.
