Hi. I'm an Indian currently in USA and will need visa to work in Europe. So I figure applying directly to jobs there really won't work. So I guess I have to move into faang or similar companies who also have a major presence in Europe. Also this is better I guess because if I get an offer in USA, I'll be able to keep those stocks when I move to Europe. Which companies let you do this transfer easily? And how long after I join can I ask for a transfer? Reasons to move : - long travel times to any place within the USA, bored of long drives as well lately. Want to visit multiple countries within Europe. - h1b / stamping / no gc forever / immigration in general - I'm ok with a pay cut as long as I can live a middle class / upper middle class life in Europe (is that possible?) - I'm a big fan of football (soccer), I spend so much time on it. Would like to be closer to the top leagues and be a part of that culture hopefully! - generally looking for a change in life. - less travel time to India - not a major factor but still. Also would like to know of best cities to live there as well. Would be great to know of some first hand experiences of Indians (worried about possible racism in some places) I'm a single 29M btw. My current top choice is London just because of language, diversity. Weather and COL negatives though. Blind tax - 180k #faang #meta #google #amazon #apple #facebook #uber #lyft #netflix #booking #europe #london #salesforce
Poll
I'm looking to get a list of companies (how their transfer process work) not sure if a poll can help..
London is not in Europe.
Ah yes. Edited. Thanks!
Last time I checked London was in Europe, just not in the European Union.
It’s pretty easy to get interviews with European companies from US. I was able to get interviews with Argo AI and Delivery Hero when I was applying last year. They sponsor work permits and relocation. Google was willing too for their Warsaw location.
Oh! I didn't know that. Did you just directly apply in their site? Did you move eventually?
Yeah I directly applied with my resume and recruiters reached out. I didn’t get H-1B and my OPT was expiring, so I applied everywhere I could. I did get an offer from Argo AI but the TC was shit, no RSUs in their comp. I ended up moving to Canada instead. Lower pay than US, but way way better than Germany.
Applying for a job in Europe from US is no problem as visa is so easy to get, the opposite is no true tho As mentioned, check Germany and Netherlands
Def needs to be London, OP. Travel in EU is still super easy from UK, even if you can’t live/work there And goes without saying, UK football is king. London alone has how many top flight teams? Then you get Manchester and Liverpool a bit further north. No surprise the best league in the world, Premier League is based in UK
Get a job at Google. Move to Zurich. Other option would be Uber and then Amsterdam. Meta is there in London but you will need visa for Europe
Check out this post! "Top 3 cities in Europe for Software Engineers (Tech Industry)" https://www.teamblind.com/us/s/jJMsrr2d
Just apply straight in Germany/Netherlands or UK. Germany/Netherlands probably better since you want to travel a lot. They can easily sponsor visa, not as complicated as the US. Almost every company can hire from anywhere. In Germany I can recommend DeliveryHero I am trying to make the opposite move, it’s 10x harder. Life is funny.
Ha! TC / level at deliveryhero? Where in Germany is it? And all the best for your move! 🙂
I feel you Delivery Hero. I'm trying a Canada to US route as an Indian from a middle class background, it takes years or maybe even a decade of calculated efforts to get a US GC.
