Hi,

I am looking to upgrade from my sound bar and may be go for a 5.1 setup in my living room.

It’s hard to find one which is good as most online reviews appear to be paid. Can someone suggest something that is not over-priced and yet give a surround experience.

Budget: 2-3000

Thanks

Spend 1/3 on the amp, the rest spend on speakers and sub. 3k should sound awesome if you setup right

I got burned on buying sets. I now only buy individual speakers and amplifiers with standard plugs that I can mix, match, and upgrade at will.

Research audiophile forums. The basics are: you need a receiver/amp and the speakers themselves. If you are ok with wires great. If not then wireless speakers exist. I recommend wired.

What is your budget? Plenty of higher quality systems are worth their price but that doesn’t mean you’re willing to spend it.

Look for KEF Q150 to go on sale for $300-350 a pair, buy 3 pair and sell the extra. HSU/SVS for the sub, then find an amp/HT receiver that can drive everything.
