I know not all companies do the due diligence to provide interview feedback, those that have recieved it what was the best piece of feedback you've recieved?
Maybe not the answer you are looking for but the best feedback I got from companies that specialize in interview feedback: interviewing.io, practicecodinginterview.com and from mock interviews with friends. The feedback from real interviews ranged from none to disappointing.
From Facebook (London). I failed it in 2014 and got the offer in 2015. But the feedback I got when I failed taught me two things: 1. Speed matters - I thought I’d solved a hard problem and the feedback was on the lines of “couldn’t get to the extension” and I realised I gotta set my personal standards higher. 2. It’s pointless to get anxious about the results - the rounds I thought were the worst had the most positive feedback and the round I thought I aced had the damaging feedback. I realised that as an interviewer, you have a very personal relation with the question you ask and there are certain things you evaluate candidates for. As candidates, it’s almost impossible to guess what the interviewer is looking for. So you just gotta do your best, rub one off if you’re feeling too anxious about the whole thing and keep looking forward.
Awesome!
I had a similar, albeit negative, experience with Indeed. When I got the initial rejection, I thought I knew what I had messed up. Those things were not even mentioned. Instead, I got rejected for the most ridiculous things. It vaccinated me against ever wanting to work for Indeed. Curiously, if they had never given me feedback, I wouldn't have such a negative view of them. But yes, the things you worry about are usually not that important.
