I am trying to sum up which of the companies in London pay well and dont have a ridiculous hiring bar: - Amazon - Microsoft - Bloomberg - Credit Suisse - Deutsche Bank bonus question: which company is easiest to L1 transfer from UK to US
Facebook pays more than Amazon and MS for sure - consistent across both US and UK markets. Can’t say about the finance names.
This is true. Would you say L1 UK to US is easier/more common at FB or Amazon?
Spending a year at the London office in Facebook and getting transferred to Menlo Park is extremely common. No clue about Amazon.
Rate of rise in Bloomberg salary is way lesser than the other names, keep in mind. You would stay at SSE level for a long time with hardly any hikes. Don’t go by initial carrots. And isn’t Deutsche in huge trouble ? Same about CS. Facebook and Amazon seem to be the best choices
My understanding is that FB is a lot harder Entry than Amazon? I am saying as someone who gets annual interviews with Amazon and Bloomberg but never a chance with FB
This is not true always. My amazon interview was way tougher than my FB interview
Palantir also pays well for London
they've been cost cutting though
Yeah, there's a lot of fat that can be cut, I see it as progress towards equity having more value

👋 care to share your Bloomberg TC please? According to Microsoft above, your base might be way higher than FB/Amazon/MS in London, which sounds amazing!!
Yes please
I don't understand the thing with people here about bloomberg. You can get paid a lot more a Goldman or JP Morgan, not to talk about prop trading and other funds in London. Still, Facebook pays highest on average in London, just below top funds.
Base tends to be higher at Bloomberg across levels. GS bonus is very discretionary and none of it is guaranteed, only a good performer will beat Bloomberg TC. (Source: Ex-GS)
Well GS doesn’t really have any ML roles in London with descent salary - I already spoke to them and they only had some junior roles and when I asked for a descent salary, they suggested I talk to NYC folks rather than London So in that sense BB is a great choice - they have 3-4 teams in ML research and prod and they pay super well in London Unlike Amazon/Facebook/Google/Microsoft/Apple
UBS
No. Not even close.
Oh I didn't read "tech". In London it is called IT and most are bad. Good "technologists" just go to trading firms and desks.
lol
Well, IT is often identified as internal IT, like the computers and networks employers use. The idea that good technologists go to trading firms is probably 5-10 years outdated. A lot of the tech intake in banks have failed intake in tech companies and hedge funds. A large percentage of experienced hires never even heard of leetcode or contemplate receiving RSUs.Or else don't know they could be paid more elsewhere. Even if they are strats/quants, they would get more in tech companies or smaller funds. To give you an idea, I doubled my comp from a front office job to tech in London and know others who did the same.

Between Amazon/Microsoft/Facebook/Bloomberg Bloomberg pays higher In last year I had offers from all four and Bloomberg was paying the highest
But you went for Microsoft in the end? Is that because Bloomberg stuff is just C++ (I am a front end dev)
Bloomberg was offering a base of around 140 Others started quite low, around 80/90 but eventually caught up, but never reached higher than 110 Wasn’t too sure about the culture at bloomberg and yes, was a lot of C++ (which is not necessarily a bad thing tbh)
