I'm a SWE with ~4 yoe. I was at Amazon for 2 years, have been at Google for 2 years and I'm bored. I'm getting the itch to start looking again, but I don't know where to go.

Let's say my primary goal is to build wealth. Should I stay at Google and switch teams or join an early stage start-up or a late stage start-up? If I went the start-up route, what are some good ones to look at?

I don't really care about work-life balance etc. Just want to maximize income.

Thanks for helping a lost soul out.

People who won the startup lottery will say startup. People who wasted years at a startup will say faang

    - Stay with FAANG or similar companies
    - pick an area and develop your expertise in that area
    - switch after 4 years
    - diversify your investment upon vesting, and/or DCA VOO

You donโ€™t have to be super smart, just have patience and be consistent and focused, wealth will follow you.

Climbing the ladder at big companies is a Sure shot way to be a millionaire.

The whole go to startups to become rich is not valid anymore due to FAANGpay being huge.

Startups offer a way for quick wealth for ๐Ÿ’ฉtier company employees who havenโ€™t leetcoded yet and are not willing to but are smart and capable.

The only folks building wealth from a startup are founders or very early employees most of the times.

Slowish way of working at big companies and switching between them for bigger TC is a more safer way.
