Best startups in Seattle right now?
Would love to know if there are any that have a shot at being the next Airbnb, Uber, etc? Have to be HQ in Seattle. Not interested in remote teams.
Nothing really good here to be honest. I have interviewed with startup in Bay Area and Seattle, and I think quality of people is really at different level. Also I think diversity is a problem in the startup or midsize companies in Seattle. I think many of those in Seattle are really “white” which is kind of weird in the tech industry. When I talked to companies in the Bay Area, they care more about your skill set, potential and communication ( communication skill doesn’t mean how good is your English or whether you have accent). I don’t have problem with white dominate culture, but I am a firm believer of diversity which can bring different perspectives and ideas to the business. If all the management are white and grew up in the Washington and went to UW, I doubt they will think really differently
You are drinking too much of the kool-aid. Just because some has an accent or has a different skin color does not mean they bring diversity of thought to the team. Think about it.
This is so true! Don’t go with what Microsoft is saying diversity is! Diverse thoughts n mindsets not just color
