MSCS is going to get you like 10k-15k pay increase. Its worthless for the time it takes. A bit different if you're specializing though.
Generally (in majority cases) people with ms are paid better than folks coming on L1. Not to mention they’re also more “Americanized”. If you get an internship, on campus job etc it’s totally worth it both financially and status wise.
What about the opportunity cost in terms of dollars earned ? Is there really only some stuff that can only be learnt in school and not picked up on the job ?
There are some people who do cutting edge research in ML and AI. These folks might make a lot more. For the normal crowd, h1b and f1 give you more flexibility to move around. Hence more money. Also, advantage in h1 lottery.
