Got an unexpectedly nice offer ~220K TC (not startup), and I’m a new grad without many expenses like family, mortgage, etc. whats the best way to invest/handle this money wisely? I know I should max out my 401k/HSA, but what else? Should i just put it all in index funds? Thanks!
h & b Don’t ask me what it means. If you don’t know, then you don’t need that much money.
index funds and max out your standard pre-tax 401k and post tax roth 401k. also start creating a nest egg with savings in a higher interest rate account (use something like marcus by goldman sachs)
He will arrive to work late and piss on your desk. He’s your new rockstar coworker.
It is kind of cringey, but I believe it’s what it’s actually called (performance rating for interns). That’s what my manager told me + what I’ve seen from research — I didn’t come up with the name myself lol. Rephrased the question to take out any unnecessary context though. Apologies if it came across as arrogant; those weren’t my intentions.
Good flex
Sincerely did not mean it as a flex, just wanted to provide the context that I’m a new grad who doesn’t have expenses such as family, house, etc. I edited the description to take out any unnecessary info
Why max out HSA? If you're young and healthy, chances are you won't have high medical costs so you'll lose most of that money at the end of the year.
he’s a rockstar mate, he’ll need the HSA for all the medical bills from his h & b
HSA rolls over , what your thinking about is a FSA . HSA goes in tax free , comes out tax free ( for medical expenses ) and when your old if u haven’t used it all you can withdraw like its a trad Ira . And most companies give you some flat amount of money for having one yearly (free 500-1500 ) generally
Congrats on the offer! Is the 220k stock over 5 years?
Thank you! And no it’s over 4!
What things did you do to become considered a 'rockstar'? Also what position is this?
I’m glad to see you’re happy with that base. I have a jr engineer (2 yoe) getting roughly the same base pay, and all he does is complain about how he’s not getting paid enough.
This person's happy with their base cause of the high stocks
I’m extremely grateful for an offer like this, even without the stocks that’s a lot of money to make right out of college, I could never complain. Many people can’t even find jobs, let alone have a 6 figure base salary, feeling blessed 😇

Are you interview-ready?
Is that the highest fb goes for return offer? fb intern with hf return offer and curious
I think so, unless you’re a masters student. I’m pretty sure base/stock are non-negotiable for return interns (base is same for all E3, 123k if you’re a masters, and stock is determined by rating). Only thing negotiable is signing and I’ve never seen any post on blind of someone getting above 100k in recent years. Pretty sure standard rockstar signing bonus is 75K and you need to negotiate up to 100K.
