Hi,

I am kinda stuck with traditional network engineering stuff and feel left out compared to Cloud Network Engineers who get really well in today's technological era

My question is -

What immediate steps or certifications I can take to transition my career? Example aws gcp others

I have 6 years of exp as Network Engineer, with ccnp done, python beginner level.

Please post any useful websites or courses or author/mentor names, even paid options are fine.

Thank you

I was a network engineer 2 years ago and now I am a solutions architect at AWS. It took me 2 years for this transition, I have been using Acloudguru for most of my study and most importantly you have to find some opportunities for hands on work before interview.

I am somewhat in OP's situation with lot less TC and a year more in YOE. Desperately looking for ways to transition in right path. I have my eye on cloud network engineer. Is this a good transition? Anyone can share their experience?

Which company you work for... Now?

And what approach you taking... I mean doing aws or gcp cloud courses online.... Or any other approach?

We can surely try to help each other.

I work for a small company, some group of 25 Network Engineers doing consulting. It's a good company if you join with some decade of experience but I joined pretty early in my career and I was switching between different clients and different fields, in a way I felt it didn't help me grow technically strong.

I took aws route last year , prepped for associate exam, took it and failed. One thing I noticed that there is very little scope for networking alone but overall cloud wise , it's a good path. But not sure that skill alone will help you land a good job unless you are a dedicated solution architect for aws cloud. I may be wrong but someone can correct me.

I am very open to to try to help each other out, and find proper path, as I feel I took a wrong step joining my current company and kinda stuck there cause of my H1B visa and literally zero visibility of other network Engineers.

  • Hey OP - did you break into the cloud or still working on traditional network?
