Assuming salary is not a judging criteria, which one is better, career wise, for a software engineer with 3 yoe. Google - image search team Facebook - bootcamp, so don't know the team Uber - maps team Work is search related in all three.
Maps team is fucked up. Agree on comments above regard FB and google.
So UberEats uses Google maps. Does Uber driver use Google maps too? Bing sold a portion of the maps (don’t know what exactly and didn’t care) to Uber. Bing maps was/is still inferior to Google maps.
Fucked up how? Could you elaborate please?

Image Search is definitely a top choice.
Isn't it a bit saturated? Given they have already mastered search
Image search has many pieces - deep learning, recognition etc. With advancements in AI/ML autonomous driving vehicle, drones etc. the usage expands. It may seem saturated if you are looking for a cat on search engine, but speech, image and video based search scenarios are constantly expanding. Folks are working on complex problems, look at the publications. And then some folks are trying to push this complexity entirely on the client side using hardware with lesser compute power than cloud.
I’d think Uber Maps is a better bet for these reasons, Product growth, learning opportunities and making a decent product better, upcoming IPO, smart people to work with etc.

Google image search is quite good where you may get good experience. Facebook search (some Bing folks went there) still needs work, so could be a place to grow if you can add value. Uber maps - don’t know the exact scenarios, didn’t Microsoft sell their maps stuff to Uber?
