I am scheduling onsite's for Google / FB / Uber and speaking with recruiters for others. I am on H1b and willing to join on receipt (because of a situation at current company- plus any of the above will pay twice and don't want to wait) I know for Google it's better to join in 2018 vs 2019 (due to refreshers) - any other companies similar to this ? Are FB/Uber also similar with refresh policies ? Wondering whether to schedule interviews quickly to join in 2018, or take it easy and join in 2019. The H1b delays (LCA plus getting the receipt) make it all the more difficult to join in 2018, but if it makes sense can push for it
Not 3 months ! Let's calculate. Let's say company files with premium on Feb 19th. (Btw this date can change ). Results by March beginning . What if there is an RFE ? Give it few more months ? What if there is a denial ? Much more uncertainty! Maybe in April/May timeframe I will be left with this same crappy job. At most I am risking a denial in which case the company files H1b again (know people for whom this was done). In the worst case I leave US for some time (after working for a way better company for 6-9 months) - that's fine with me - actually might even look forward to going to Canada / Europe / India for some time. Thing to keep in mind is that a good company will always support you even if there are issues in visa transfer - plus if one is in the long GC queue , it makes sense to stay away for a year anyway if it comes to that. Chances of two H1bs getting denied for a company such as G/FB etc are lesser than 5% in my opinion
If the company files an h1b again on denial, will you have to leave the country?
No. I am almost 95% sure
If you are willing to join on receipt, I don’t see any advantage of waiting. Plus you can get your application upgraded to premium in February if PP is resumed. If not, you wouldn’t have wasted a few months.
Isn't there just like 3 months left for premium processing to be back? If you join on receipt, it will anyway be January. Why not take the safe route and stay an extra month?
