I find the WLB to be relaxed. I’m not stressed, but also not passionate or driven to work. I think some may accuse me of rest and vest and many others are doing the same.
I think the mood is down though given the stock price. We’ve had more than a few high level people leave.
I can’t speak to the design team directly.
A recent trend that bothers some people in the Pinterest Blind is the offshoring of remote work to Mexico City, Poland, and the Philippines. As well as “apprenticeship” programs wherein you don’t need to know how to code, but basically just be non white or non-Asian as a way of boosting DEI numbers.
There is some toxicity (as you can tell from the above) but I suspect it’s no different than what’s going on at other tech companies nowadays.
At this point in time many teams are dispersed, the office staff (cooks, cleaners, etc) were laid off 2 years ago and haven’t been back. Near the pandemic start, Pinterest paid a bunch of $ to get out of leasing a new building for office expansion.
And given The attrition, low stock price, lower morale, it makes sense to extend WFH. But they haven’t announced it as a permanent thing.
