Just read that Amazon Alexa alone has 3500 people in it. That just blows my mind. I know how much I can accomplish just myself coding my own apps. Why the hell does it take 3500 people? What does everyone do? I've never been in a big dev company before so legitimately baffled.
If you think Alexa is big, you should checkout the service teams and supporting staff at AWS and Azure.
Hold my beer.
Connections team is like 80 people ha
Many many many different initiatives, offerings, R&D efforts, integrations, etc.
I found out the same thing when I found out my friend who works at Facebook is on the team that works on JUST the search bar on JUST the android app. My mind was blown - that's so tiny! How is there enough work there for an entire team, full time? At my company, everyone works on every part of their version on the product. Every Android dev can and should work on any Android part, etc.
I expected max 200. Wow. Engineers, scrum masters, qas, sales, marketing, product owners, project managers, architects, call center support, compliance, security blah blah blah..will add upto 3500 I guess.
Scum masters
