BlackRock in tech?

I finished up an internship in software engineering at BlackRock this summer and was given return offer for full time. Obviously tech is not the main focus at BLK, are they relevant at all within the space?

What does the full time offer look like? Is it comparable to typical tech companies?

100k base, 10k sign on, small bonus - a bit worse than average tech? Honestly, my main concern is more on the work being engaging (I know, how cliche).

Interview elsewhere starting now. Having an offer under your belt really helps.

I bet its hard to move to more general dev positions once you have put in enough years as a deva t an investment comp; for example Blomberg is all about hash tables, even their interviewer in unable to ask anything other than implement a hash table, I would think you get very specialized at such places and rusty in other skills so much so that switching becomes difficult. I would personally continue looking specialy since they bought up M which has tanked and that they are offering next to nothing for your skills

The salary is pretty bad on top of your concern over skill set growth. You want at least one of those to be above average to consider the place. IMHO keep shopping

Work at a pure tech company before moving to finance. Having a FANG on your resume ensures that you'll be able to go back to tech if you want to.
