I am a new grad who got an offer from Bloomberg. 148. base 25k sign on 20. bonus It sounds like a great offer but Im just curious how Bloomberg is viewed in the industry comapred to Apple (where i have an offer) Does one over the other make a difference on my resume? My main concern is Bloomberg doesn’t have levels and Apple is offering ICT3 Is switching from Bloomberg to lets say Google harder than Apple to Google?
I see people moving to Google from gagagugu companies like so unknown I don't even know what they do. If your resume is noticed and you get interview you have the same chance as anyone else
What is Bloomberg?
Bloomberg is ok. Of all the meh companies they are pretty good but a clear otherwise step down from most tech firms
Apple is a tech company, Bloomberg is not. Forget prestige, learning at Apple will be higher than Bloomberg.
Yeah it’s not like our products are software or anything
Lol. You comparing yourself to Apple is a joke. I interviewed with you and found your tech stack to be unexciting. I told them we use Thrift and interviewers were like what's that? I was like RPC and contracts and they were like yeah we use XML lol One interviewer asked me what's GCP and does Google have a cloud now! Apple maybe a hardware company but their software is still stronger than Bloomberg
Man all these CS career related forums are starting to look like wallstreetoasis. I can't wait for people here to unironically chase after jobs at Albertsons because they hire fewer folks and is therefore more prestigious a la finance idiots chasing after internships at Deutsche Bank
🍏
Are you a grad student? This is very high for bbg.
Undergraduate
Is this a normal Bloomberg offer for 2020? Did you have serious C++ skills or is this how far Bloomberg has bumped up the offer from last year?
Bloomberg is good. A lot of good companies outside of the Bay. It’s just Blind is too focused in the Bay.
Most people live in the bay tbh on here also most are Indian it seems
Congrats on the offer! Funny you mention this because one of my closest friends started off at Bloomberg then got hired away at Google.
