How are the engineering opportunities at Bloomberg, San Francisco office?. Is it possible for a new hire to transfer to SF office from either of NY/Princeton offices?. What is the total strength in SF office?
Most smart people at Bloomberg are in SF.
How big is the engineering department there?
Wasn’t huge, 100ish iirc
From what I’ve heard, the San Fran office is there to recruit from the San Fran talent pool. Not to act as destination for anyone who has wanted to live in Cali.
It is possible but probably not easy for a new hire. Someone on a neighboring team transferred to an SF team just because he wanted to but he was here for at least 4 - 5 years
How is the Princeton office btw? Is it worth going to for someone with 3.5-4 YOE?
Same pay as NY, lower CoL, free food, chiller environment
How hard is it to get into Bloomberg in general for my YOE?
Why do you want to work for Bloomberg in SF? NYC seems much better, having interned in Bay Area for a different company before. I'll be a new hire at Bloomberg soon as well, and if I wanted to move to Bay Area, I would much rather go to a company like Google, LinkedIn, etc.
I wanted to move to SF because of my personal reasons. After a series of interviews with all bigger organizations in SF, Seattle, i ended up at Bloomberg. I heard alot about NY, Princeton areas, but never heard of SF location.
