Hello, I have Facebook and Bloomberg offers at the moment for summer internships. I am leaning towards Facebook for the summer (which could be in person). However I have the option to do FB spring (online) + BB summer. Is there added value in doing the BB internship? My main interest lies in backend/infra which I could do at FB. However, I am planning to recruit for quant/hft roles for my next internship (resume rejected this season :() and am wondering if BB would provide any value there. Specifically I was interested in the trading/analytics org at Bloomberg, does anyone know anything about this? The downside is that I have the option to grad in 3 years - if I do 2 internships then it will take me the full 4 years to graduate which isn't really a concern - just something to think about in terms of tradeoffs. #bloomberg #facebook #hft Edit: Wanted to make a poll
Do both for sure, even if it takes longer to graduate. Internships are fun - enjoy them while you still can. You’ll also be able to experience both FANG and fintech to see what you like/dislike. GL!
Both!
BB will help. I got HFT offers (for SWE) even without FB, but together with FB you should look really strong. FB will show firms you’re skilled, BB will show an interest in finance (which some HFT firms do care about). It’s not necessary, there are other ways to show your interest, but doing an internship in the finance space helps your story if you pitch yourself as interested in finance. Also, Bloomberg has a great internship program, it’s very fun (assuming it isn’t remote). That being said, trading and analytics is a terrible department (tech wise, because there’s a lot of non-techy finance people embedded in it). Everything is team-dependent, but in general it has the lowest technical standards. I guess it won’t really matter though, since you aren’t planning on pursuing BB full time.
u motherfuckef i failed my BB found 2
VMware you are a mood 😭❤️
I would strongly suggest doing both internships. The value an internship fetches you is worth the time. Back in 2018 when I had graduated I had also finished my 1 year internship. That set me apart from everyone graduating without an internship.
Both
Congrats on the offers! I’d definitely do both internships, you’d get more life experience in different companies to figure out what you like, make more connections, and you would get to experience more of college life post-COVID while you still can
