i was interviewing at a startup before Cisco made their offer and I realized why recruiters are needed.
The founder was incredibly slow to come up with the offer letter, didn’t give me verbal numbers said just to wait for the letter and gave no explanation of benefits or stock comp.
Addmittedly the offer was not bad but his lack of responses and hoping I’d accept a lower number by just shoving the paperwork at me was weird.
I declined and he got personally offended and started saying I’m unprofessional and some other nonsense. I understand to a founder the company is your baby and of course everyone would want to work there but man, you need a recruiter to shield people from your “passion”.

And they both have recruiters who are about as incompetent as the standard agency recruiter.
