I have an offer from booking.com. I have 3 yoe. Offer is 75k euro base + 11k bonus+ 5800 euro stock for first year+ 3k relocation. I am afraid to negotiate too much as it can make me lose offer. HR has been upfront about salary from start. I want good wlb and work on my soft skills. Also exploring Europe culture sounds awesome. Should I go ahead and take it. I am thinking to ask 5k more, 3k on base and 2k on relocation.
The extra you are asking for is not crazy. I’d say go for it.
Hi congrats on the offer. I have a on-site coming up for a similar role and experience at booking. Could you please give a brief outline of what to expect? The algo questions I reckon should be lc med/easy. What about the design rounds? How intensive were they? Do they also care about object oriented stuff?
Check the Glassdoor questions, often the questions are repeated. That will give you good idea of what to expect
Hi, Thanks I did check that, but there is no straight forward information related to the design round. Is it high level system design or low level software design ? Also is it given like design Instagram, Uber, WhatsApp or is it like designing specific services or questions like url shortener, or a search engine. Thanks in advance. It would be of a great help if you could answer my query.
It’s standard decent offer. There are not that many companies in Europe who offer 90k tc for 3 years of exp. if you want to explore take this opportunity. Wlb is great. If you want more info DM me
Can you tell me about stock options there. I was promised 20k usd stock vesting in 3 years but the units were not mentioned in offer letter
Typically companies will never promise on the number of rsus u get. Once you join the company they will send an allotment letter at that time based on prevailing market price they will check how many stocks can be purchased with 20k and you will get the same.
Hi based on my booking experience you can ask the 3k in your base and you will get it. Regarding the relocation it is always 5k and they will not change. Just to put things in perspective another core got an offer of 87k last week, so you will be safe asking more 3k. Just wrap it in a good excuse.
What kind of offer someone with 10 years of experience can expect ? Also , how are you liking it?
It depends on the role you get into, at booking we only have four levels of software engineers. The above one numbers does not change much unless you get in as senior or principal
Congrats! It seems you got a good offer for 3yoe. I have 6 and I make 80k. And I didn't get stock when I joined, only after 1 year. But it seems they raised the start so, try to get it but with a good excuse.
I was told what stock grant I would be getting verbally but not mentioned in offer letter. After one year how much of your stock was vested
After one year I got 21k in stocks to be vested 1/3 per year...
For which role is it? I'm a full stack developer with more years of experience, and I didn't get stocks
Hi, I have a work ex of 2.5 years have a verbal offer from booking as a junior developer role, should i join it ? The hr initially told about 65-70 k euros for this role. I am not really sure what should be my expected base salary
This is very decent for European salaries with your YOE. I think the median Dutch salary would be somewhere in the 40/45k bracket. Be aware that the Netherlands has a pretty intense tax system. So definitely check that out (you have a ton of pre/post tax calculators). Otherwise you can always negotiate a company car or travel allowances (these are tax deductible for companies).
Its the opposite for the first 5 years. If you're an expat you'll get the 30% ruling which means that 30% of your salary will not be taxed at all. The effective tax rate then is around 27-30%.
