Have SWE offers for both, was wondering if anyone had worked in both and could provide any opinions? Alternatively, maybe people who have worked in both a bank and a travel-based firm (e.g. Goldman, Expedia, Skyscanner, Morgan Stanley...) I'm concerned about tech/engineering culture more than anything. TC is not much of a factor when adjusting for CoL. Aren't you already in JPMC ?
I interned there.
In general I would avoid banks. I have worked in Morgan Stanley for a year and it was legacy tech stack. But perhaps if you interned and already like the team/tech etc it might be a good option. Booking.com may still give you better exposure about building applications at scale.
Hey, it's safe to join Booking.com Company is doing well in terms of profit. All engineering team got 10% rise in salary one month back during offcycle
Thanks for the reply. How do you find the culture (e.g. engineering, WLB)? Have you worked anywhere else you can compare it to?
Wlb is best compared to all the companies I have worked on previously
Don’t join JPMC in tech.
Sorry to break this to you, but booking.com brags about not being a tech company.
Online travel agency
Worked at a big bank as well as booking. Not even a comparison when it comes to tech, stack, learning, quality of life, booking wins hands down.
Hey, how are compensation. does expacts need to pay less tax in Amsterdam.

Tech companies to avoid as a white guy?
There was an infamous layoff from booking recently, did you read about that? Why would u want to work there
Yeah that's one thing I had in mind. But the layoffs have already happened/were in September 2020, and were obviously a result of the pandemic having a negative effect on travel revenue. I got the offer very recently so I don't imagine it's something to worry about going forward.
@Amazon I literally can't find anything about recent layoffs at Booking? I obviously heard about better.com if that's what you're referring to?
