Bootcamp - lesser investment, faster outcome, compromise on social life for 6-8 months only Degree - more credible, covers CS fundamentals, better job opportunities (?) Considering both options on the side while keeping my full time job
OMSCS. Boot camps are solely dependent on if the person taking it can retain the information. You can throw anyone into a boot camp, have them cram for 3 months straight for 15 hours a day, and have them spit out a project at the end. Whether or not they can change that cramming into actually comprehending what they are doing is solely based on the person's willingness to actually study it and grasp it. If they actually worked at the % the groups claim, why would anyone need to spend 4 years in a CS program to be a SWE? Throw down $xx,000 after studying CS fundamentals for a few weeks and pop out in 3 months making $200k. Not how it works.
Is omscs worth the time and energy? It's a 3 year investment. I will be left with no social and personal life if I do it alongside a full time job
Iβm in the same position, but I have a BSEE.. I think boot camps are overdone and only worth the investment if you NEED structure to learn a shit ton of information in a short amount of time. There are some good quality camps and a lot of crap ones too! MS is a good option, but if you have a similar degree it might not even be worth it to get in.. Or maybe just start one and put it on your resume and start applying right away with some projects under your belt!
