Just started a new job at Booz Allen as a Consultant. Was wondering if $70k is a good starting salary for someone with little job experience (a few federal internships) and a master’s degree? And how it compares to Booz Allen and other consulting firms (EY, Deloitte)?
I got an offer with 3 yoe at acn for 105 in Chicago in 2017. No masters. Currently have 5 yoe and make 137 base with 27% bonus targets. I don’t do strategy either. Not trying to brag just giving perspective.
I joined Accenture with only a bachelors and I make significantly more than that.. I would negotiate for more!
If you don’t have full-time experience, that seems pretty reasonable. MBA / masters salaries are higher because candidates also have prior work experience
At bain, with your experience you’d be making 180k, so your salary is pretty bad for a masters degree
That’s not true unless the masters is specifically an MBA. Non-MBA masters degrees would come in as BA/A/AC at MBB making around $100k first year. That being said I’ve never seen a masters get into an MBB (aside from those doing a 4-5 year masters+undergrad) as almost all pre-MBA generalists come direct from top undergrad schools.
Low
At Deloitte, folks who have a Masters and are hired at Consultant level make at least 100k
Very dependent on where you are and what you're doing. Also, are you in a market team or SIG? Assuming DC metro and market team non technical, that's about right. Maybe a bit low.
DC sucks
Low, especially with a masters. Should’ve been at least 90k
I second that
To make you feel better, I am making $63k with a relevant master degree. I only have half year of non-relevant full time work experience. Location: Cincinnati, OH.
That sounds pretty low. What's your YOE and what kind of work do you do
was the master degree relevant with your current position at booz? if so that's pretty low :(
