Should I move to San Jose from Boston? Read too many posts saying that San Jose is very boring. Is it true? Is it going to be really worse? About me- 27 Indian. I really enjoy having friends over, dinners outside , houseparties. Going for road trips.
Boston is a much cooler city than San Jose, there is no doubt about that whatsoever! SF proper would be the only place in the Bay Area that compares to Boston. San Jose does have very nice weather a better ratio of salaries to cost of living.
OP - Live in San Francisco. Commute to work using Caltrain or something. You'll spend 2 hours a day commuting but it'll be worth it. Alternatively, at least live half way to SF, may be in Palo Alto or around. Overall, bay area is definitely worth moving to vs staying in Boston.
MA coast is just like Sonoma coast except with better coastal towns. San Jose has no old bars or that old soul feeling you seem to like. Architecture is generally unattractive in South Bay. If you don’t hate the winters, stay in Boston.
I lived in Boston for six years and have been living in SJ for an year. SJ is nowhere comparable to Boston in terms of history, culture, food, bars, activities, etc. SJ is like any other mid-size city in the US. Boston is super fun especially during winter and the possibility of winter activities in New England are way better than the Bay Area. Move to SJ only if you want a warmer weather.
Or more money.
I live in SJ and would not recommend it. It is bad with many crimes happening including homicide, robberies, random attacks.
It's called Man Jose for a reason. Overpriced and pretty boring. There are outdoor things to do and people who live there think Santanarow is cool.
Have you been to San Jose? Have you visited the place on a normal day?
Yes. Couple of times. It felt very quite. Doesn’t feel like a city city
That's normal for San Jose. It's a big city with no vibes, just business and tech companies. The only good thing about San Jose is that it's an hour away from San Francisco.
