I'm trying to dress to impress as someone who climbed the career ladder and can afford to take care of myself now. Looking for old money Ivy League / East Coast brand recommendations like Vineyard Vines? Not new money brands like LV / Versace. TC $630k
SV impressing is not done with a label. The richest people I know literally buy their clothes at Walmart or Costco.
FUCK yes my entire wardrobe is Costco and it's does the job
I can attest. Tc:700
Wear Abercrombie & Fitch shirts with big logos on the chest. For added effect wear two of them with the collars both popped. You will look very classy.
Man! Looks like I am a miser. I basically buy clothes from Costco 🤷🏽♂️ or wear random conference swag that’s it
Stick with brands that have no branding on them. Look into Brunello Cucinelli
First comment that adds value, thanks
This and Loro Piana
The problem is that stuff screams old and racist and privileged now. You won’t be born again in a “well-to-do” family. So, accept you’re a self made person and stick with Patagonia. Specially now that Patagonia stopped making branded clothes for backward companies like banks. Or, use company swag that is quite exclusive. Or get bespoke.
loro piana, sunspel, boggi milano, ralph lauren purple label, brunello cucinelli, eton, just off the top of my head
Leave it to the finance bro to give on point advice, thanks 👍
at vmware now lmao 🤣
Ralph Lauren (specifically Purple Label). Basically the epitome of the east coast preppy luxury vibe. Great quality (construction, cut, and material), no external logos, and coherent brand image. Also look into Brunello Cucinelli and Loro Piana
Ignore people who say wealthy people buy clothes at Costco. While that might be true for some random dude, it is not generally true. Wealthy people buy beautifully made clothes that are tailored for them. You have two choices: develop personal taste through reading, art, design, attending fashion week, film, music, etc. or get a stylist. Not from my employer, we don't do this price point 🙃. Ask a stylish acquaintance for a recommendation, or go to a high end department store. They'll have an in-house one who can get you started. Ideally you'll take both of these suggestions. Get your clothes tailored ffs. Either way, you need inspiration. How do you want to feel? How do you want to be perceived? If you just want some brands, Loro Piana is lovely.
You're right, Stitch Fix isn't going to cut it
If you don't do this right, you won't have style, you'll just look like someone with more money than taste. And that is deeply unattractive. And visible a mile away.
Probably not what you’re looking for but honestly Lululemon has great men’s clothes now. Good quality, ultra comfortable and it’s no longer just athletic-wear. Tom Brady loves it and he always looks good.
+1 for comfort. The v-neck tees are also great for going out, specially for dancers. I have a black v-neck tee I love, but several other colors too. The round neck looks a bit dorky on me, so now I’m getting all v-necks. And great quality and specially they’re incredibly good at not keeping odors.
Agreed. The Commission pants are great too. Look like dress pants but feel like yoga pants. And they’re fitted great. Can’t go wrong.
East Coast is the antithesis of silicon valley style
I get it. Patagonia vests and hoodie jackets are the antithesis of class
