If you pass HC and have a team match - will the recruiter provide you an offer or will they first ask for salary expectations to get that approved by a committee.

Second question, if they do ask for expectations, would they ask for current salary (and proof)?

Interviewed for a PM role.

They’ll ask for comp expectations then give you a verbal offer. Offer is based on experience and interview performance. It’s tough to negotiate without competing offers. They will ask for proof and go back to comp committee to get a revised offer.

They don’t consider current comp for negotiation and it’s against the law to ask in CA and WA. They’re also required to disclose pay range to you if you ask.

Your TC is extremely low for PM too. Are you an internal promo? Google L5 is around 300-380k TC.

This is super helpful...yeah I am internal promo. Was concerned that my current salary would impact the offer they made. I'm in NY so unsure of the disclosure law also applies. But I have about 7 years of experience so think I'm looking for an L4 role

NY prohibits recruiters asking for current salary. I think the salary range law for NY isn’t in effect until April/May. Just don’t tell the recruiter your current comp.

Amazon L6 maps to Google L5. Check with your recruiter about the level. You really don’t want to get down leveled to L4 since it’s a big difference in comp. 7 YOE should be just enough for L5.

      Good luck!
