Synopsis: received bachelors but later then most (30), have prior work experience not related to banking or finance, have worked since obtaining the bachelors in manufacturing operations, supply chain operations, continuous improvement, and now as a finance manager/controller at a manufacturing site. Recently obtained my MBA (Big 10 - not a target school), which helped get the finance position. Any chance of breaking in our do i need to develop additional skills and/or experiences to break into traditional banking/finance roles (investment banking, private equity, etc.)?
I’ve looked into it, but it seems more geared to people either in university, or more generally speaking, a younger audience. Going back to it again won’t hurt if there is some good recommendations.
Following this convo. Found the same problem on WSO. (Younger crowd). I’d be interested to hear what you find out. I’m around the same age with similar goals.
Have you tried to leverage your MBA alumni network? The chapter in nyc should be able to help you, at least to make some intros.
I have not. It’s a great suggestion and a resource I’m not fully utilizing. The only concern I have, given that the school is a Big 10, it is not a target school.
