Compensation: lowest in the seattle area. At expe i was making 140 tc. Now my tc is 300.
I wasted 2 years at expe and missed out on big $$. Totally frustrating working there.
Dont go there.
And yes, they give yearly bonuses AND stock (you can choose between Options or RSUs).
Source: bought my house by selling EXPE stock.
They’re just a middleman and if you’re selling a commodity service, the day you run out of marketing is the day you’re finished.
I’ve thought Long and hard about Expedia. I used to adore the company but I don’t anymore because it’s past it’s time. Too many ota’s with undifferentiated value.
1. People at expe are the not the brightest and are usually ones who could not get a job anywhere else.
2. Comp is very very low compared to other companies
3. Quota based increments and promotions.
4. Top heavy management
5. No respect to developers from management hence no stocks or options.
Every company has superstars and dumbasses working for them. And people who like to get into a dick measuring contest all the time.
2. True. For a sr engineer, total comp is ~200k. This is at the higher end of the band. Median would be ~180k total comp.
3. Maybe. No idea here.
4. Kinda.
5. Wrong.
