Just talked to the manager and he seemed to describe the role similar to “site reliability engineer”. The tech interview round is supposed to be some linux test. I would have to ssh into the engineer’s machine. Has anyone given this sort of interview before?
Be sure to also know how to create symlinks, and have an understanding of inodes & changing and setting permissions
Make sure to get admin access before running any commands like this: rm -rf /
Make sure you know your Linux commands: ls find sed xargs grep curl awk ps
They would ask basics of those commands or actually give you some problems to work on? I find it overwhelming and unnecessary to remember all the syntaxes
Not sure. If I was the interviewee. I would ask “find all files with the name first.txt and replace the word apple with banana inside the first.txt file”. Run it all in one Unix command.
