I'd like to get the perspective of people who are eligible to vote in the U.S. The Buttigieg and Biden's entire platform runs on the assertion that they aren't different from the status quo, and therefore more likely to beat Trump. To me it seems so extremely uninspired. We know the status quo isn't working. People are living in a lifetime of debt because of inhumane healthcare costs. Our infrastructure is crumbling, and our climate is deteriorating faster than we had previously thought, and we seem to be in complete denial. The extremely wealthy (billionaires, not us 200k TC chumps) have been getting massive tax cuts after tax cuts since the 60s, while we keep saying we don't have money to properly fund social safety programs and the likes of NASA. Our public health system is a joke. How many crazy people throwing poop have you encountered in the cities of socialist Europe? Why can't we take care of our mentally ill? So, why keep voting for the status quo? Is it better the devil you know? Or some other reason? Let's keep it civil please. I'm interested in getting honest opinions from the supporters of these centerist candidats
Does Bernie inspire you?
Biden is a senile old man Bernie is going to have a heart attack Warren wants to tear down tech Buttigieg has no experience Klobuchar learned to debate last week Bloomberg is a fucking dick They've already got problems and Trump is going to get reelected. I'd vote for Buttigieg or Klobuchar, Warren if she can tone down the tech hate. Screw the rest of them.
Bernie already had a heart attack
Ok, a final heart attack.
Why do you feel that status quo isn’t working? Crime is low, healthcare is okay, and quality of life is the best it’s ever been for many people. Let yourself be happy and radical rhetoric won’t make as much sense
Healthcare is okay?? I think you live in a bubble - Many of Americans can't pay the insane healthcare out of pocket expenses. 65,000 people die in the U.S EVERY year because they can't afford proper healthcare. Source: Lancet study on single payer healthcare
Tons of Americans die because from eating lots of cheeseburgers... but we let them. We let them die by 🍔 because freedom is important
Life has never been better than now for all classes of Americans.
Most certainly not true. Yeah, you're less likely to die from illnesses, but upward mobility has never been power in the U.S. the socioeconomic situation you were born in, is the one you'll probably die in. Look at cost of living for boomers vs malenials. Look at ratio of income vs price home ownership
The poor live a much better life now than they did 1/5/25/100 years ago by every measurement. Unemployment is lower now than people thought was possible. Cost of living? The average house is now nearly 50% larger than when Boomers bought their first house. Food and commodities have never been cheaper. Communication is free. There are definitely micro-issues where it sucks to live in liberal cities, but that’s about it. Opioid crisis is about the only outlier, and that pales in comparison to the impact of the crack epidemic of the 80s.
Just vote for the winner Trump
Like how he won the popular vote or won impeachment by having a gop senate vote to convict his crimes.
I’m in agreement with you here. People in the states are so afraid of “oh no, the big bad social democrats” will raise taxes and take my hard earned money that they cannot see a few year ahead to see the country crumbling down. As someone who worked and lived in Sweden and a few more equally social countries, I can say that what you should aim for is an equal starting line. You get that by having reasonable cost for education(nordics), advance tax system (look at Estonia) that shows in clarity exactly where your taxes goes (hint, not to power groups with lobbyists in DC), investing in cheap electric public transportation and modernized health system. Saying that, yes there are great things in the US but the projectile is dim. Just look if the student loans bubble, the horrible infrastructures and the non-equal tax system and you can see it won’t hold up for many years.
No thanks
Nordic countries are more like states, which have the freedom to do all that. The equivalent is if the EU ran healthcare for 400 million people - Europeans would think that’s batshit crazy.
As someone from a socialist country, I will def vote for Trump if that commie is nominated
Ditch BootEdgeEdge and go with Sanders or you’re so stupid you deserve Trump
Man you should really try to be more welcoming than calling people in the same aisle names. There's already a stigma that bernie supporters are mean and becoming the maga branch of the democrats. tone it down.
Toned down.
Let's talk specifics, not general sentiments. You're right. It worked out so terribly for Canada, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany. Remember, taxes were lowered on the mega rich because of their lobbying and "contributions", not because of sound economic policy
The vast majority of Americans will end up with more money in their pockets at the end of the day under Warren or Sander's plans. Their taxes are raised a small amount. But that amount is eclipsed by the massive savings due to single payer healthcare
