Just curious. I know everyone says sports cars are super deprecating assets. I want to buy a used Porsche Boxster around 10-20k. I want it purely because i like driving cars like that and I don't care about the latest tech. I am a single guy, late 20s in the bay area. But it seems like doing that so, would put me into some minor group. Has anyone ever bought a second hand Porsche? If so do you recommend? TC: 300k
The real cost for old sports cars is the maintenance, not the sticker price
Carmax it... Very good warrenty for luxury cars.
Not breakage. Just regular service. Warranties don’t pay for your oil changes
The first owner has already eaten most of the depreciation so it’ll be a much shallower slope. I’ve also heard that Porsches are unusually reliable for German cars. That being said the regular wear and tear maintenance will be more than you’re used to because it’s Porsche parts and labor. Still, what you’re proposing is the standard play for car enthusiasts on a budget. Get it inspected. If it’s good to go so are you.
Yeah it's the cost of maintenance. Something that I'm not too sure of how much it would cost me
Just buy it. Don’t worry about money if you can afford it. If you do the math, conventional sense always tells you not to buy and rightly so. But the joy you get is unparalleled.
I can definitely afford 20k. I'm not too sure about maintenance costs though
How about getting a CPO to avoid maintenance?
Do it man. 10-20k is not that much for the fun you could have. If you’re in the Bay Area, the mountain driving potential here is phenomenal and you’ll make full use of the boxsters handling.
Boxter is no a real Porsche.
If you can afford to pay cash for the car and maintenance, go for it.
Always pay full cash if you are buying a car. Be it Porsche or Honda
I'd rather buy a Civic than a Boxster. Gross.
I don't like Civic. Plus one is a roadster other one is a sedan/hatch
You clearly don't like driving clippy, not everything is for the badge
As a Porsche owner.. don’t buy a Boxter but go for a 2nd hand 911/panamera. These have proven to deprecate a lot less. Once owned a Porsche, never anything else. The quality of finish, ride-feel, timelessness of Design and that it’s just glued to the road truly makes for an awesome road experience.
Quality of finish? Lol. You REALLY should try owning other luxury brands before spewing nonsense.
As i said I'm a late 20s single. What am I going to do with Panamera? I personally find Panamera too ugly. 911s are way too expensive and big
