My Blind friends, Is it legal to buy stocks from my spouse’s company? Thanks! TC 240k, base 160k, 0 YoE new grad
Are you really pulling 160k salary new grad?
You better diversify, if you spouse company goes down. Your spouse TC will go down and you will lose your stock
Got it. Thanks!
You can, but never buy/sell if you came across insider info that your spouse may know and may tell you. You should wait for that info to become public before trading the stock or till when the info is not propping up or depressing the value of the stock.
Thanks!
Insider info needs to be material, if your spouse is also similar YOE I wouldn’t worry so much, anything they know will probably not be considered material info.
Thanks!
Insider info has nothing to do with YOE. Many people working in finance, legal, and M&A have access to inside information, even at a junior level.
Many companies have insider trading rules that apply to family members. Make sure you don't violate those -- easiest is probably to only buy and sell during trading windows.
Thanks for your suggestion!
Living under the same roof might make you an “insider”. This could mean things like: - trading of stocks is forbidden during blackout periods (usually periods before the quarterly earnings call). - trading of derivatives (e.g. options) is strictly forbidden. Make sure you follow these rules!
Got it. Thanks!

It is legal. Make sure that you don’t break insider trading laws
