If your team does daily standups, your manager is a micromanager
Saw this article today about large Chinese tech companies and sharing data with the government. Is TikTok also part of this? "Alibaba, Tencent and DiDi own detailed, real-time dashboards into major portions of Chinese life. They include everything, from what people want and buy to what they tell their friends in private to where they're going each day." https://www.protocol.com/newsletters/sourcecode/didi-china-ban
Of course they are. All social network apps do this OK? That’s how they make money.
Apple hiring bar has taken a serious dump
Scroll down and read PCVI82’s comment. I have to say maybe you are the one who lower the bar of FB.
It’s about China’s national security. Nothing wrong with it
Keeping databases of personal information on their own people?
They do this regularly and has been for years. It’s nothing new.
Now sure about that but I am pretty sure that Facebook is listening to me
No question
Exactly lol, Facebook is prolly aware of everything too
CCP branch (aka黨支部) settles in every big Chinese tech. EVERY ONE!!
dude DiDi's trouble is they are sharing data with US government due to recent IPO, not Chinese government. That's why CCP is mad.
Yeah, because they want civilian data for themselves and for the US not to know the extent of the eavesdropping.
Where does the news come from? Never heard Didi shared data with US.
Ccp will fuck Bytedance up soon 🤣
For those who compare it to the US, afaik the CIA isn't seeking jurisdiction over FB/google/amazon's database for "national security" reasons, establishing branches at their offices, and playing the I'll shut you down card when they don't get exactly what they want. Big tech having access to user data is frankly part of the business. If you work in tech you know it. How else do we recommend things you like and make money? Occasionally we fuck up - take Cambridge Analytica for example, and we take it seriously to ensure it doesn't happen again. But there's a qualitative difference between that and handing the gov the key to our db allowing them to dig up dirt about people they don't like: Hong Kong citizens who want democracy back, the Uighurs, foreign nationals who said the wrong thing in private chats. Shady data shenanigans are firable offenses here. In China, when the perpetrator is the CCP, the offense becomes patriotic. Don't pretend it's none of your business because chances are you use Chinese tech or invest in them. Do you really think your data is secure? The CCP is laughing at our collective ignorance right now. Not having to worry about the gov after your ass 24/7 is a huge privilege. We're talking shit on Blind as we wish because of that privilege. Don't take it for granted. Don't minimize what the Chinese gov is doing by comparing apples to oranges. I'm not disparaging the Chinese tech companies either btw. They don't have a choice. Would you let your biz (and yourself) be destroyed just because you didn't conform to an outrageous yet normalized "law"? CEOs aren't saints and I don't blame them. There is an obvious evil tho. If you don't wanna fight, fine. At least be aware and don't be an idiot.
Ask Jack Ma what happens if you piss them off.
You think only US has CIA?
I understand that Bytedance has a separate app for China, named differently, and TikTok for international market. The Chinese app complies with Chinese gov requirements but international one does not
As a Tiktok employee, I can confirm that the Chinese main office have full access and control of the international Tiktok app as well… just saying…
@iisO43 are you implying they have full access to user data or just have access to the app?
