Moving from India to NYC through Amazon. Have a kid with ASD. Can someone help with the below questions?

1. I’m open to living in either NJ/Connecticut and commute to NYC. Which cities have more Autism resource coverage like low wait times for ABA, peadiatricians, daycares?

2. Does Amazon insurance cover ABA/ST/OT? How to find out?

First time in US. Any help appreciated.

Totally off topic, but OP any reason why you choose US over canada? Provided the later has better public health coverage and kids support.

  I’m moving within the same org ie same skip. We have no presence in Canada, so never bothered. I’m expecting a promo in the next 2-3 quarters, so have no motivation to change skip. But based on what I’ve read on blind, medical in canada seems to be a major reason why people don’t want to go as wait times are sometimes in years for basic things like MRI which I can get done in India next day.

  To get an specialist consultation yes its a nightmare, but checkups and all you can get done with some remote locations as well. It's tough in general in canada not worth it.

2) Amazon in network only plan has the best coverage for ABA. You pay the deductible (roughly $75 for the individual) and everything else is covered.

Both NJ and CT have some of the best autism related resources, NJ probably has a slight edge. Personally, I think the commute from NJ to NYC easier. You’ll find huge Indian diaspora communities as well (Google Edison NJ).

1. Connecticut to NYC commute isn’t that easy. I’m unaware of NYC but NJ (middlesex county & Mercer county) has good resources.

2. You can add your family to your insurance plans.

There’s an online health care support within amazon, you can reach out to them & ask for more details. They’d be your best resource for question 2.
