Did udacity courses. The Self Drivng car is a real rigorous coursework . Helps you brag and understand how difficult a real world ML application is . Then did the flying car course. Super cool understanding what a Kalman Filter is.

Then pursuing online MS. This may qualify me as top user of Education fund :)

    • Thanks for responding. I want to start with ML. What resources do you recommend to start from scratch?

Andrew Ng’s ML coursera course is Hello World of ML. Then you can do few Specializations. I did the Illinois University Data science and loved it. With these you will have good theoretical understanding. To have practical understanding, I would suggest udacity courses which just brush theory but have great projects and support system. If this appears to be costly, then you can do the Deep Learning Specialization coursera which has good selection of courses covering practical aspects.

After over 20 courses, I am able to understand which ML algo can be used to tackle a given problem. But still struggle with Maths. So got enrolled for MS course.

Your mileage may vary. But point is you can use ML techniques and become a Data Engineer without much maths understanding. But I don’t call myself ML/Data Scientist.

Also, there are few good books - Deep Learning from Ian Godfellow and Pattern Recognition from Bishop. I got them all but I struggled to understand them. You can look at pdf version before purchasing them. If you can study either of these, you don’t need anything else :)
