Question for (ex) Googlers: is there a referral policy at Google such that you must be "endorsed" by a Googler before being considered / interviewed?
I've heard an acquaintance mention this, that he provided feedback about someone we had worked with and he blocked them from interviewing at Google. The way he said it, it really seemed like standard policy and the recruiter reached out because they had worked for the same company at the same time (but initially wasn't sure they knew each other). I asked other googlers who said they never heard about this.
If there is such a policy, how to best steer recruiter to someone who'd be favorable instead of leaving to chance?
