I’d like to gain a different skill set, in IT, but unaure what is out there. Big data, programming, network?? Which area in IT shall I focus my studies to compliment the skills i already have and possibly advance in my career?
Dude, do the math...2-3% commission with 5 to 6 house will leave u at 150k max yearly. Its way less than IT in bay area!
5-6 homes if for new grads .. experienced people sell 60 homes per annum. Do the math.
Haha...now u telling abt 60 homes😊
So, I only have experience doing the mechanical part, opening escrow, due diligence, etc. I wish I was a good sales person who can find clients and sell bunch of properties but I’m not so good at that...I shift career, got my CPA and am in audit right now but I feel that the world is shifting toward IT. AI will soon be able to read lots of contracts much efficiently and data analytics seems to be the key. People are saying that accounting firm will become an IT firm decades from now and lot of our jobs will be eliminated. I can see that so I wanted to start studying IT but wanted to see where I should focus.
first thing you need to learn: TC or GTFO
Baby steps. Step 1) learn Python to automate the mundane tasks you do in your current job and for data analysis.
Having Programming skill is a must - if you can combine ur CPA business knowledge that could create wonders like take a problem and come up with a platform using software engineering skills. Again you don’t need to master software engineering; you can hire and start a company.
There are no IT skills.
Learn SQL, VBA, Python

Just curious - CPA and real estate pay a lot right why IT? Like 2-3% commission on 1-2 million dollar home and you might be selling 5-6 atleast in a year. Won’t real estate agents make more money than IT people?
