Hello.
I know this question has been asked before. But I couldn’t figure out answer for my particular situation. H1B with my current company is expiring in less than 5 months. (I140 approved with current company and 6 years limit already over). I also want to start interviewing next month. Would it be a problem if my current company applies for extension and a new H1B transfer happens (When I140 approved is from current company + 6 years over)?
Should I ask my current company to wait before applying for extension?
Thanks for your help.

Since you are already in 6 months window, first apply for extension in premium. By the time you get offer letter from future company, it's only a transfer.
But since OP's current H-1B hasn't expired yet, there should be no issues with having an extension and a transfer in parallel. Denial of the extension would not affect the transfer. Just make sure the new company files the petition before the current approved petition expires.
Did you also have similar situation like expired H1B and I140 with current employer?
