Hey fellow Blinders,
So I've received an offer from another big Software Enterprise company (Not Fang). The team seems pretty good and would give me opportunities to learn things that I haven't yet.
I'm currently in application development at Oracle.
The offer is around 170k, but they don't seem to be willing to push out my start date until my RSUs kick in this year (month or so away), so I'd be also taking about a 30k~ hit on that.
The offer is slightly under my current pay, but on my current team I don't believe I'm learning much and the workload at times slows to a crawl. I joined Oracle straight out of college and even after a year I felt like I was not growing as a engineer (I genuinely feel I could do my current role with just my University knowledge), but stayed because of COVID worries about job prospects.
What do you guys think? Should I leave or stay?
YOE: 2 YOE
TC 180k/ 200k if counting refreshers. Will hit cliff after 2 more years if no more refreshers.
Thanks for the responses. #oracle #engineering #software #swe

Never take decision based on “running away from something” but always “running to”
From your words it sounds like you are running away.
Thanks for the point of view.
The job searching coming out of University was relatively difficult on my end. Interviewed at many, many companies, including FAANG and got offers from Amazon, Oracle, and 1 smaller company. So that might be influencing my decision.
Thanks.
