Is 10th St and Market in SF safe?

We are thinking of moving to SF from south bay just to get a feel of the city life. It’s me, my partner and our dog. We’re thinking of moving to Nema which is on 10th and Market. I’ve read a lot of reviews and it says it’s not exactly the safest neighborhood?
We wont walk late at night but we will have to walk our dog around 5-8PM and wouldn’t want him to get punctured by needles on the road

If not this area, then which areas are great for a good city skyline view from the apartment?

    Don’t live there. Trust me. If you want a high rise I recommend rincon hill. Much better area. Also mission bay.

      +1. I don’t live in SF anymore, but these are much better than the area next to the Twitter office that you’re looking at. SF gave Twitter tax breaks to put their HQ in that area specifically because it’s so run down and full of 💉💩

    My friend lives in nema and I visit regularly. I also live nearby. Personally I find it to be safe. It’s urban living, so you may see some homeless types and drug addicts sometimes. But you shouldn’t ever be in any legitimate danger. It’s also a solid location in terms of accessing all of San Francisco. Very central, lots of public transport, new Whole Foods just opened a block way

      I just moved away from the area to be with my partner. But it’s honestly more poop and trash than needles. Haven’t seen needles in a long while.

      NEMA also has their own dog potty area. It looks pretty small and narrow from the outside though. I’ve never been in there as I didn’t live there.
