Original Post:
Hey, I was just apart of Atlassian COVID Contractor cuts. They cut all contractors except one team. My last day is June 30.
I currently have a baby on the way and a mortgage to pay for. I am struggling with this physically and mentally. I dont know how to tell my W.
I have worked hard like all SWE here, but my path to become one was different than some, I had to battle cancer , the death of both parents while in school to get here which put me back a couple extra years.
I am grateful to be a SWE and actually love my job. I would appreciate any advice or referals moving forward. My manager tried to convert me to FTE as well but there was no budget.
I have almost 3 YOE as a software engineer. I am located in Austin. I also have great references from my current and past managers.
I currently work with Typescript , Javascript, React, GraphQL, Contentful, Node and Express.
